Solidarity Economy Accelerator Fund

CFFI engages values-aligned investors to support EJ organizations and their community-led visions for sustainable local economies. For decades, frontline communities in Chicago have endured urban space as “sacrifice zones.” While other areas of the city have flourished, frontline communities on Chicago’s south and west sides have experienced disinvestment, environmental degradation, poverty, and displacement. Understanding the strengths of their communities, and how neighborhood challenges intersect, Environmental Justice leaders have developed community-led plans and projects that deserve investment. 

CFFI’s Solidarity Economy Accelerator Fund provides early capital and coordinates resources to assist frontline EJ leaders in launching site-based projects that contribute to a thriving local economy. Through this CFFI program, EJ organizations may access resources that support:  

• Business plan development

• Feasibility and environmental studies

• Legal Services

• Cooperative planning

• Matching funds

• Technical assistance partnerships
